Message from the Executive Director – Winter 2018
Mar 11, 2019

The OPBA lost another member while performing his duties as a Police Officer.  On November 14th Officer Michael Huffman of the Madison Village Police Department died of apparent natural causes.  In a resolution from Madison Village Council, Officer Huffman was remembered for “his positive attitude, camaraderie and pleasant smile.”  Our condolences are with Officer Huffman’s family, friends and co-workers.  Officer Huffman was an 18-year member of the OPBA.  Rest in Peace.

The 2018 election cycle is complete.  Ohio Issue 1 which had many negative implications for law enforcement was defeated.  Congratulations to OPBA endorsed candidates Melody J. Stewart and Michael P. Donnelly who were elected to serve as Justices on the Ohio Supreme Court.

Paying your membership dues has never been easier.  OPBA members who are not covered by a collective bargaining agreement may now pay their dues by debit or credit card.  Retired members and individual members can use this payment option by calling our North Royalton Office at (440) 237-7900 or 1-800-457-4190.

It is that time of year for nominations for the 20th Annual Top Cops Award Ceremony.  The National Association of Police Organization (NAPO) of which the OPBA is a member puts on this officer recognition ceremony every year during National Police Week in Washington D.C.  Nomination forms can be found on the OPBA Facebook Page, OPBA.com and NAPO.org.

Please keep the OPBA aware of your current email address or any changes to your email address.  The OPBA sends email reminders of meetings, events and important news to the email addresses we have on file.  To make sure we have your current information on file, please call the office or email tnewcomer@opba.com.
